Late Afternoon at Taylor Farm

Lola and I arrived at Taylor Farm at 4 today and stayed for almost an hour. It's not easy to take photos when a leashed beagle is pulling on your arm to follow a scent.

Supermoon

I was disappointed when I realized yesterday that I had forgotten about the supermoon, visible in Connecticut Sunday and Monday (November 13th and 14th.)

We headed outside around 10:30 last night. The moon was lovely, but underwhelming. Guess our timing was off. Here are some other photos from around the world.

Today I saw possibly my first bumper sticker of the 2016 political season: "I'm waiting for Hillary." Nothing against Hillary, but I was more impressed with this car magnet. "I like big mutts and I cannot lie" with the silhouette of a large dog.

Loved it.

Seen: A Mystery Hawk

Yesterday when I was returning from my mother's follow up appointment with her surgeon (all went well) I saw a hawk perched on a traffic sign heading into her health care facility. At first, I thought it was an osprey.

This morning I looked at some photos online. and realized that an osprey was all wrong. But I couldn't figure what kind of hawk it was. It was light colored--white to gray--with a rounded head. The photos that looked the most likely, were birds from other areas of the continent. Others had the wrong coloring.

I also looked at snowy owls; the head reminded me of owls, but that was wrong too. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open. I saw other hawks today and tried to look at them in flight. But ultimately, driving required my attention.

Saw this on my walk with Spike today at the apartments next door. I was intrigued by the juxtaposition of the ripe tomatoes and the snow.

At Stop and Shop parking lot on Route Seven in Norwalk this morning:

I liked this because I usually sing in the car. I don't care if I look funny.

I was walking Spike this morning and noticed a series of leaf prints on the sidewalk adjacent to the hospital on Maple Street. I don't know why these were only on part of the sidewalk, but I was intrigued.

Spike was stubborn; he didn't want to wait while I snapped this photo and pulled on his leash. It's not a particularly good picture but it gets the idea across.

I forgot to post this earlier. We saw this at Citi Field after RA Dickey secured his 20th win on September 27th.

We can relate. Spike gets treats when the Mets win. It's been a sparse few seasons for him, but like us, he hopes.

When Spike and I headed out on our walk on Wednesday morning, I saw a bird chase a small squirrel across Maple Street.

I imagine the squirrel was the equivalent of a teenager who ventured too close to a nest of eggs or young birds and paid the price.

On recent walks with Spike, I've glanced into parked cars we passed. The most common items I saw were coffee cups, usually paper or styrofoam. I also saw many air fresheners dangling from rear view mirrors and a few graduation tassels.

The most unusual item was a dried rose draped across a dashboard. Other items: a red Santa Biblia and various electronic equipment.
