A Time-Tracking Mishap

I was glad to be nearing the end of my week time-tracking last night. As I made my entries, I realized I had an extra column. I was actually entering my Sunday information in the Saturday column. Somehow, I had erased the real Saturday information that I had previously entered. D'oh. I was bummed. I didn't want to try to recreate my Saturday. I just closed the file.

I still have good information for most of the week. I'll take a look at that and decide if I should track another week.

Cleaning, Packing, Unpacking, and Still Time-tracking

That sums up my day.

Cleaning because I've neglected it lately and Jeff's sister is coming to visit.

Packing because we are driving to North Carolina on Monday to visit Jeff's other sister.

Unpacking because I'm re-arranging a few things as I dust and wanted to put out a Thai Buddha on a living room table.

Time-Tracking because I want to complete the week. I am tracking on a spreadsheet on my laptop. It would be easier to manually record the information, but much harder to review. On the pc, I can highlight different colors to get a better picture of how I spend my time. It's going pretty well. I had to backtrack for a few hours on  Monday, but otherwise, I'm doing a decent job keeping up.

Time-Tracking

Last weekend I was droopy and annoyed about the time change and the hour I lost. I thought it would be a good idea to track my time. But I forgot about it.

This week, I remembered. I'm tracking my time in 15-minute increments. Today the condo scheduled a dryer vent cleaning, Jeff had physical therapy, and I went food shopping and did chores. That about sums it up.

All I can say so far is that tracking my time helps me realize how much time I am using for particular tasks. It helps me focus a little better.

Thursday Thoughts: Leap Day Edition

I wish I had been more mindful of the date during the day. It's not often you get a gift of time. I wish I had done something more meaningful, instead of laundry, walking Jace, and going to the gym. Funny I was so psyched for the beginning of March--you'd think I'd pay attention to the calendar. I realized the date when I was at the gym, then forgot about it.

I feel cheated by the weather. Yesterday was warm but bleak and rainy. It was supposed to be nice. At least Jace and I got to Cove Island Park on Tuesday. And next week is supposed to be warm.

We started watching Shogun last night; it was really good. It was nice to see two episodes but I still wanted more. I can't help but compare it to the 1980 version with Richard Chamberlain. I'd like to re-read the book.

March will make its first appearance in two hours. I'll greet it tomorrow.

Fall Back

Daylight Saving Time ends tomorrow morning. Traditionally you changed the clocks on the Daylight Saving eve, so you'd have the correct time displayed when you woke the next day. Now cable box clocks, cell phones, and smart clocks adjust to the correct time. You just have to change times on appliance, battery operated, and car clocks.

I remember the first year with my new clock radio. I didn't know it was a smart clock and changed the time and was too hours off. Luckily it didn't take me too long to figure that out. It's rough when your clock is smarter than you.

Today I wrote a companion piece to my poem Spring Forward.

Fall Back

Eight months later

in a chill November night

The government’s payback

for the hour they stole.

I’m glad to have the hour back

but that’s not enough

I want interest.
