Today I saw possibly my first bumper sticker of the 2016 political season: "I'm waiting for Hillary." Nothing against Hillary, but I was more impressed with this car magnet. "I like big mutts and I cannot lie" with the silhouette of a large dog.

Driving home from Interlaken Inn in Lakeville, CT: many No Trespassing signs including one affixed to a house and another along a chain stretched across a driveway. I wondered if hikers along the Appalachian Trail just wandered up to homes in the area and bothered the residents. Otherwise I got nothing.

Somewhere along Route 41 or Route 4, I saw a sign for Thistle Dew instead of a normal address. From what I could see, Thistle Dew was just an average ranch house. I hate when people name their houses, unless they live in historic registered homes. It seems so pretentious. I'm reminded of Upson Downs in the film Auntie Mame. But Mame's (Rosalind Russell) rejoinder was fabulous--her New York apartment became the Burnside Fireside.

Closer to home, I saw a bumper sticker, "Life is short, play with your dog." I can live with that philosophy.

The zebra-striped Volkswagen van has returned to Maple Street. It's been over a year since I last saw it. It still has Grateful Dead and peace sign bumper stickers. It also sports a "I heart drama TNT" sticker.

Didn't see the driver this time. I need to snap a picture if there's a next time.

Driving on Route 84 in Danbury, I saw a bumper sticker, Obamunnist. I guess this is the latest trend in right wing car adornments.

We went out to lunch for gyros today at Nik's before heading over to the dog park. I expected to see more people there; the beach was crowded. We saw another beagle Kayla who we met about a month ago.

It was warm and sunny, with a milder breeze than yesterday's. As we were relaxing on a picnic bench, we saw two small poodle-y dogs: one was hot pink and one was lime green. I was too far to get a photo to post to prove I wasn't hallucinating.

Later we stopped to get a bottle of Magellan gin and saw a bizarre bumper sticker: OBA -  MAO with a caricature of Obama in Mao uniform. It amazes me that Obama can be a communist, socialist and Nazi simultaneously.

Today on the Merritt Parkway: a bumper sticker "Live is short. Play with your dog."

An inspiration for me--especially with an older dog.

Recently in the neighborhood: a zebra striped Volkswagen van. I saw it up close yesterday. It had bumper stickers about Woodstock and the Dead. The driver's and passenger's seats were covered in tiger striped material. A tray between those seats held a vase with a flower.

Then the driver returned. He could have been sent from central casting. A man approximately in his late 60's with a long grey beard and wire framed glasses.

Spike and I walked through the hospital parking lot this morning where I saw the following bumper stickers.

1. Hillaryous

2. When fascism comes to this country, it will come wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.

I thought the first was clever, although I don't agree with the sentiment. The second sounds frightening but true.

On a bumper sticker at a car in the hospital parking lot:

I liked it--it was a little geeky and made me think.

I must admit that I sometimes make assumptions and judgments about people based on their bumper stickers. The smile I get from a dog breed sticker or my dog digs whatever bone-shaped magnets--fades when I see McCain Palin 2008. I'm also not crazy about the band parents whose stickers proclaim they have no life.

But a math/science joke is nice to see.
